OK, I figured out my problem I had to change teh sql query to look for a slightly different youtube url.

I changed this:
%http://www.youtube.com/v/%

to this:
%http://www.youtube.com%

I also had to modify the regex suggested by Marcus from:
#http://www\.youtube\.com/watch\?v\=([^&"\'?\r ]*)#

to:
#http://www\.youtube\.com/watch\?v\=([^&"\'?\r ]*)\[\/youtube]#

This isnt working for me. I am using a plugin which requires the URL to be placed in a post in a certain format.

I cant figure out REGEX to save my life. Do you know the regex I should be suing to capture that.

hi i’ve downloaded this program but i dont know really know anything about php. i am computer saavy and i can figure things out when need be. at this time im lost. once the program is installed how do i get to actually work. in what file do i place what code and exactly where?

With reference to my above comment … where it was normally “thumbnail” setting had to be changed to “thesis_thumb” for a site using Thesis … is there a work around to make this work with a Genesis framework theme?

I’m trying to get it to work but, there is no custom field in its template/framework as it’s actually using the “Featured Image” function of the new wordpress > 2.9 instead of calling custom fields to display thumbnails now.

Any help would be helpful. I’m referring to http://battlingforhealth.com/community/category/community-blog/ which is a category view of a genesis framework template for Buddypress … the first image shows a thumbnail of images uploaded in a post, but not subsequent images for ones generated by the plugin.

OK figured out the solution to my problem. If you plan to just add the YouTube URL, and then some text below it in the post area, change this line of code in the plugin:

if (preg_match('#http://www\.youtube\.com/v/([^&"\'? ]*)#',$p->post_content,$match) ) {
			$img="http://i2.ytimg.com/vi/{$match[1]}/default.jpg";

to this:

if (preg_match('#http://www\.youtube\.com/watch\?v\=([^&"\'?\r ]*)#',$p->post_content,$match) ) {
			$img="http://i2.ytimg.com/vi/{$match[1]}/default.jpg";

This line exists twice, so make sure to swap both.

I updated the plugin to recognize the regular Youtube URL instead of the embed code, however the thumbnail field seems to also grab the line break and first word of the next paragraph after the YouTube URL. is there any way to stop it from grabbing those two things and adding them to the URL.

YouTube Url: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4iPsgforRo

It’s putting in the field:

http://i2.ytimg.com/vi/r4iPsgforRo

Karen/default.jpg

“Karen” is the first word of the next paragraph.

Any help is appreciated.

your plugin was actually working as it should (creating “thumbnail”) in the custom fields. But, using thesis and the thumbnail for excerpts plugin .. on the front page it doesn’t use the thumbnails from the custom fields, but rather the “post and thumbnail” designated by thesis (i believe)

I changed the settings to name the thumbnail as “thesis_thumb” and “RUN” it again and everything started to appear as it should.
